Shepherd Neame pub in Covent Garden, in the Good Beer Guide.

[[Kake]], [[Bob]], and [[DrHyde]] (in various combinations) have visited this pub several times; most if not all of our visits were marred by the noise coming from the many flatscreens scattered around the pub. It's not so much the presence of the flatscreens that's the problem; but that on more than one occasion they've been left playing TV channels - including the adverts - at top volume. One does not generally go to the pub expecting to be confronted at every turn by an enormous armpit and a voiceover extolling the virtues of roll-on deodorant.
Food served noon-3pm and 5pm-9pm weekdays, noon-9pm Saturday, noon-4:30pm Sunday. It's fairly standard pub food; burgers are £5.50-6.25, sandwiches and hot sandwiches (e.g. chip buttie; brie, bacon, and walnut; coronation chicken) are £2.75-3.50, chips are £1.75, nachos are £3.75, and mains are £6-8 (e.g. steak and kidney pudding; gammon, egg, and chips; lasagne). Vegetarian options are almost entirely absent. [http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1725023061&size=l View photo of menu as of October 2007].

It can often be very crowded, but at other times it's fairly easy to find a seat. [[Kake]], at least, hasn't yet figured out the exact rhythm of business.
[[Kake]] first popped in here around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed so I didn't stay. I suppose this isn't really surprising given that it's within the tourist zone. It may also have had something to do with sport; they have at least four flatscreens.

In October 2007, a pint of Late Red and one of Spitfire came to £6.15, and a pint of Master Brew was £2.70. In May 2008, a pint of Spitfire was £3.20.
It was pretty much empty on our second visit, on a rainy Monday afternoon. The flatscreens were showing sport but the sound was off, and instead there was piped music, sort of R&Bish, not too loud.

As of October 2007, food was served all day until 8:45pm. It's fairly standard pub food; burgers are £5.50-6.25, sandwiches and hot sandwiches are £2.75-3.50 (e.g. chip buttie; brie, bacon, and walnut; coronation chicken), chips are £1.75, nachos are £3.75, and mains are £6-8 (e.g. steak and kidney pudding; gammon, egg, and chips; lasagne). Note that they may close early on a Sunday; they may be open into the evening and they may not — it totally depends on whether they have more than a couple of people in.

Accessibility: Level access to the bar and most of the seating area (though there's a raised area at the back); and there's an accessible toilet accessed via the ladies' — follow the bar all the way along to the back, turn right, and it's on your left after you enter the little passageway.
