Boonchoo was a Thai restaurant and takeaway on Southampton Row in [[Locale Holborn|Holborn]]. It closed some time in 2009. As of September 2009, the site is occupied by a cafe called The Diner At Bloomsbury [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/3904508325/ photo]. |

[[secretlondon]] went here one Monday night in April 2009. She had black goddess tea (£1.50) which was served in something a bit like a cafetiere. She had golden tofu puffs which it was claimed was served with ground peanut in sweet and sour plum sauce. This was 6 deep fried tofu cubes, not marinaded, with a syrupy dip with a few peanuts in. She then had chicken pad Thai (£6.75) which was described as sweet and fruity sour. It was pretty tasteless but I could identify the tamarind if not anything else. |

It felt average in a kind of anglicized way. I suspect they don't make their own sauces. |
