Buffalo Bar, N1 1RU

A basement bar beneath the Famous Cock pub, right next to Highbury & Islington Station. The entrance is in the side nearest to the Tube station exit.

This is a fairly smallish space, largely square in shape, but with a small area sticking off alongside the bar under the stairs. There are a couple of large tables near the back with seating for about 15-20 in total, but these go very quickly and usually by friends of the band or sellers of merchandise who get in early. There are shelves for drinks attached to the support pillars which bisect the space at regular intervals, but which are spindly enough not to obstruct the view of the stage too much.

The strength of this bar is in the range and quality of club nights and live music that takes place here. These tend towards the more punk and DIY end of indie rock music, but also include soul, funk and pop DJ club sets. It's a good place to get to see local bands up close, as there's very little separation between stage and audience.

Drinks available include some basic bottled beers, as well as a decent range of spirits at not extortionate prices for London.
