bob and others visited on a Tuesday evening in March 2018. There were a few tables left when we arrived around 6pm, but it soon filled up. A game of darts was going on in one corner.
Pub near Old Street, in the less trendified western edge of Hoxton. It closed at the end of March 2012, but reopened the next month under new management. According to Quinno on Pubs Galore, the plan is to retain "the same ethos" but with "a general clean-up and upgrades".

Ten real ales were on: Barnsley Bitter (£3.90/pint, and well-kept), Dark Star Hophead, Dark Star Pale Ale, Pig and Porter Stout, Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde Mild, Windsor and Eton Revenant, Moor So'Hop, Siren Suspended In Mosaic, and Siren Soundwave. They also had three real ciders as well as several keg beers.
The comments below predate this change of management, and hence may be out of date, though a photo on the Wenlock's Twitter account reveals that the nine handpumps are still in operation, at least.

Basic pub food was available: Pie Minster pies (£5), baked camembert with bread and honey (£5), and a selection of toasties including cheese (£3), ham and cheese (£4), and tuna melt (£5). Pork scratchings were £1.20
It's a single room pub with the bar in the middle and a mixture of booths and tables around the edge. There's some extra seating around the back up a few steps, and the toilets can also be found here. There's always a selection of beer-related literature and CAMRA leaflets, and they sell copies of the Good Beer Guide.

There are nine handpulls behind the bar, and it has a constantly changing range of real ales on tap with at least one mild normally. These are kept updated on a chalkboard displayed prominently in one corner of the pub. In March 2009, all ales were priced at between £2.60 and £2.80 a pint, though in October 2011 a half of one was £1.50. They also have the usual lagers, as well as Samuel Smith's Pure Brewed lager on draught.

Does very basic, but excellent, pub food. The sandwiches are vast doorstop wedges of bread packed with fillings, and are around £3. The black pudding ones are very good, as are the salt beef. They also do pasties.

According to an advert in the August/September 2008 issue of London Drinker, the Wenlock has Liefmans Kriek on draught as well as a wide selection of continental bottled beer (including Duvel and Chimay), and it always has at least one mild on. The advert also says the function room is free to CAMRA members, and there's jazz piano on Sunday afternoons and jazz/blues every Friday and Saturday evening. An advert in the Spring 2009 newsletter of North London CAMRA says there's a quiz every Thursday from 9pm.

Good news for cyclists who don't want to get their bikes nicked! Tom says: “if it's not too crowded, the staff will usually let you take a bike indoors and leave it by the back door. There's room for two or three before it starts getting too snug there.”
