Entry is into a spacious high-ceilinged room with mismatched tables and chairs, each table surmounted by a trug containing cutlery, napkins, ketchup, and a stem of wildflowers in a glass bottle. The floor is exposed wood, echoing the carved-wood bar. Windows are all around, and patio doors provide a view onto the High Street as well as being opened up to let the breeze in during the summer (though iron railings with an attractive star detail prevent entry or exit this way). Copper-effect lampshades hang from the ceiling. |

Further back is a darker, cosier room with an abundance of armchairs and some elegant glass separator screens. There's also some outside seating at the front and side of the pub, arranged along a nice but rather scuffed strip of mosaic tiling. |

[[Kake]] visited on a Friday afternoon in July 2015. There were about half a dozen other people when I arrived a little after 3pm. Music was playing, not too loud. |

There were five real ales on; three were the regulars (London Pride (£3.20/pint), Deuchars IPA, Timothy Taylor Landlord) and two were guests (Black Sheep Golden Sheep, Ringwood Boondoggle). A sign on the bar pointed out that third-pint glasses were available. The six handpumps on the bar offered five ales and one cider: Timothy Taylor Landlord, Adnams Broadside, Shepherd Neame Spitfire, Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay, Dark Star Hophead, and Westons Rosie's Pig. There were also keg taps for things like Mortimer's Orchard cider, Meantime London Pale Ale, Estrella Damm, and Birra Moretti. A pint of lime and soda was 50p. |
They have several board games behind the bar <small>[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/4939326051/ photo of list]</small>, which you can borrow for a £5 deposit (we went for Trivial Pursuit — [[bob]] won). Music was playing throughout our visit, and there was also a football game playing on a screen in the back room, though this didn't really disturb us much in the front room.
