[[Kake]] visited on a Wednesday early evening in August 2008. Beers available on the four handpumps were Greene King IPA, Bombardier, and Adnams bitter; in November 2008, the Bombardier was off, but the other two were there. I had a pint of Addlestones cider at £3.10. (I'd been hoping for some nice Belgian beer, but the bartender told me they sadly don't do it any more.) There were a fair number of customers and most of the outside seats were taken, but I had no problem getting a table in the conservatory. Background music was playing, pretty bland but not loud enough to be annoying. [[Ewan]] had no trouble getting a table on a rainy Saturday in November 2008 either, though the conservatory was rather draughty and cold. Sport was on the TV, with the sound on in the inside area by the bar.

Pub right next to Kew Gardens Station.

The main part of the pub is quite dimly lit, and much of the seating is tall stools at tall tables; but they also have a nice conservatory with a couple of sofas, a huge arched ornate skylight, and floor-to-ceiling picture windows looking directly onto the eastbound platform of Kew Gardens Station. A sign seen in August 2008 said children are welcome in the conservatory until 7pm. There's some outside seating too, some of which is covered with a large parasol/umbrella.

A sign seen outside in July 2008 advertised breakfast, food served all day, free wireless, and fairtrade coffee. A menu seen in August 2008 said food served noon-9pm daily (so not sure where breakfast comes in).

As of August 2008, the menu was fairly comprehensive, covering a good range of standard and slightly-more-interesting pub food. Chips were £1.75, onion rings £1.50, nachos to share £5.25. Starters were between £3.25 (e.g. soup of the day, breaded mushrooms) and £4.25 (crispy garlic king prawns). Main course salads were between £5.25 (ham and cheese) and £6.75 (pan seared salmon fillet). Sandwiches (four options of bread type) were between £3.50 (cheddar with red onion jam) and £5 (rump steak with red onions, mushrooms, and mustard mayo). Rump steak was £8.25 for 8oz and £13.25 for 16oz; sirloin was £9 for 8oz. Mains were all around £6-7, e.g. mussels with chips and bread (£6-6.25); half a roast chicken with chips-or-mash, peas, and gravy (£6.25); pork cooked in Kentish cider served with mash, carrots and peas (£6.75). There were two vegetarian options; spinach and mushroom lasagne, and porcini ravioli, both £6.25.

Accessibility: One step up at both entrances. Toilets down a flight of stairs.
