An excellent cheap Indian restaurant on Brick Lane, notable for its lack of touts accosting you as you walk past.

The food is of good quality, despite being almost invariably microwaved in front of you as you queue at the counter — canteen-style service. But that's why it's so cheap. In November 2008, elvum paid £7 for two courses: a small "kebab roll" (a seekh kebab wrapped in puri, with spicy tomato chutney and onions), chicken biryana and another puri for good measure. Portions were generous, and there was no skimping on the meat content.

There's no license, so drink the free tap water or buy pineapple juice or lassi (other drinks may be available).

The seating is café-like, with wood-veneer chairs and melamine tables packed in to a small dining area at the back, and a single (clean) unisex toilet.

Last visited by elvum, 24 November 2008.
