It doesn't look much from the outside, being located at the base of a tall office block, but this is a comfortable and friendly pub in Fitzrovia.

Inside, period 30s decor is nicely preserved, with wooden fittings, thick carpet and cosy banquettes around the edge of the room. There are four or five tables outside on the street. Service is friendly as well.

There are only two handpulls, dispensing Fuller's London Pride and Hog's Back TEA on a November 2009 visit, but Pride and an ale from Tring Brewery on a May 2012 visit. Traditional pub food is advertised on A-boards as available at lunchtimes, though we haven't tried it yet.

Ewan's verdict: Despite all appearances, this is the kind of pub you can imagine being a regular local, which is rare enough for the West End. A decent place for after-work drinks.
