Young's pub on Putney High Street. Following a refurbishment in mid-2007, it's gone a bit gastro. Prior to the refurb it was called "Ye Olde Spotted Horse", now it's just "The Spotted Horse".

Kake visited on a Friday afternoon in October 2008. There were quite a few people in, but I had no trouble finding a table. The clientele were noticeably posher than at the Whistle and Flute down the road. Quiet piped music was playing (jazz, the peaceful noodly instrumental kind with occasional vocals).

Beers available were Young's ordinary (£2.80/pint), Special, and Bombardier. They have four pumps in total but the other one had its clip turned around.

As of October 2008, food is served 11am-10pm every day, with a special lunch menu available noon-5pm Mon-Fri and 10am-5pm Sat, and a roast lunch on Sundays. They also have bar snacks available all day, including a "bar board" for sharing, which gives you four things for £10 - choices include honey and mustard glazed chicken drumsticks, potato skins with aioli, welsh rarebit, and mini beef and onion pies.

Dishes on the lunch menu are priced between £4 for home-made soup of the day (cream of sweet potato today) and £9 for hand-made steak burger with cheese and bacon (served with handcut chips). They also offer an "express lunch", which changes daily, costs £6, and is "served promptly" - on the day of my visit this was toad in the hole with mash and gravy.

From the lunch menu, I chose "smoked salmon served with scrambled egg and brown toast" (£5) photo. The salmon was cut into small pieces and mixed in with the eggs, which wasn't what I was expecting, but it was fine. The eggs were cooked quite dry, but thankfully didn't seem to have been bulked out with milk. Toast was cut quite thick and toasted very lightly on one side only. It came with a lemon half which seemed to have been grilled at some point but was sensibly served at room temperature.

Accessibility: One step up to get in, and regular toilets are downstairs. There's an accessible toilet on the ground floor, but it's locked (with a non-RADAR lock) and has a sign on telling you to ask staff for the key.
