Given the usual range of dispiriting options in this crowded tourist area, the Royal George does a good job of providing a fine place for meeting up and having a drink. There's plenty of upstairs seating (couches, and both low and high tables with stools) and more downstairs, which on a sunny Friday early evening was almost empty as everyone crowded into the cul-de-sac to drink. The downstairs room, in particular, has been done up and is quite bright.

There are extensive drinks options, with one London Pride pump and another for cider. There are also plenty of draught lagers (Leffe £3.90/pint, Budvar £3.30/pint, Staropramen £3.50/pint, et al.), cider and bottled beers. The wine is drinkable, with a large glass of chardonnay coming in at £5.

Food is served noon-10pm Monday to Saturday, and noon-9pm Sunday. It's decent quality, from a standard [[Category Mitchells And Butlers|Mitchells & Butlers]] menu. Apart from mains, there's also a selection of smaller dishes which can be combined as a sharing platter. [[Ewan]] tried the vegetarian pie, and it was a tasty concoction, and a properly encased pie at that, served with mash and cabbage (£8.50) [http://www.flickr.com/photos/55935853@N00/3428901796/ photo].
Food is also served and looked to be good quality, though we didn't sample any. Apart from mains, there's also a selection of smaller dishes which can be combined as a sharing platter.

There's a ukulele group on a Wednesday, who use the downstairs room, though generally there's still space to sit downstairs if you can possibly stand the sound.
