Restaurant in Fitzrovia, serving South Indian and Keralan food.

In the 2007 Good Curry Guide.

The restaurant was nearly empty when Kat visited on a Thursday evening in April 2009 after work. The utthappam (a lentil and rice 'pizza' with chopped chillis cooked into it) was big enough to make me glad I hadn't ordered a starter, and hot enough to make my nose start running (in a good way). The price was as pleasant as the food — the most expensive dish on the specialities menu was around £5. They also offered cans of 'real' (i.e. cloudy) lemonade instead of the usual Sprite/7Up.

On Kat's return visit in June 2017, the (previously enormous) dosas had been relegated to the starters section of the menu. A lamb malabar (£8.50) and paratha (£3.20) was a tasty enough replacement. My starter of vada (a spicy lentil & ginger doughnut, £4) was probably the highlight though. The staff were friendly and happy to explain the menu, but a little inattentive.

itsbruce's verdict: The decor has improved a bit since Matthew Norman visited; the food is still wonderful.

Accessibility: a wide step to the door from the pavement, and a narrow turn to get in the door. The tables are quite close together inside. Didn't check the toilets.
