Decent pub in Stockwell with an interesting range of beers. They usually have four or five real ales on tap, from all over the country, although one is almost always Sussex Best. There is also a comprehensive selection of bottled continental beers in the fridge.

the menu does too. The chef can get swamped on our last visit we couldn't order food.

On our June 2008 visit, the beers available were Fog on the Tyne, Downton Crowning Glory, Summer Lighting, Eager Beaver, and Sussex Best, all at £3/pint, while in December 2008 the beers were mostly Christmas specials at about £3.10.
Question from Kake: Does “The chef changes frequently so the menu does too.” mean that they have several part-time chefs who work in rotation, or does it mean that they can't keep their staff?

The food here has usually been good, although there has been a fairly high turnover of chefs during the last few years. On a June 2008 visit by elvum, Bob and Martin, the Thai mixed starter platter (£9.50) was quite good, with a generous selection of dumplings, spring rolls, barbecue pork and satay chicken kebabs and prawn crackers. The latter were a little greasy and there was no satay sauce, but everything was tasty. Thai red chicken curry (£7ish) was also quite good, although a purist might find fault with the use of western vegetables (courgettes and peas). The steak was described by one of our party as "a little thin", and was cooked medium when requested rare.

In December 2008 they were having a Belgian and German beer festival, and on a Friday night this meant there was a very limited
menu of German food.

According to an advert in the April/May 2009 London Drinker,
food is served 12:30pm-2:30pm and 6:30pm-9:30pm Monday to Friday, and 1pm-9pm Saturday, with a traditional Sunday lunch served 1pm-6pm Sunday; and pub quiz is on Sunday night.

There is a function room available for hire, big enough for 60 people. A booking form perused by elvum suggested that room hire was £80, with £40 on top for a late license, and that a buffet could be provided for £8 a head.

In June 2008, signs above
the bar announced an "upstairs lounge" that was "coming soon".
