On our June 2008 visit, the beers available were Fog on the Tyne, Downton Crowning Glory, Summer Lighting, Eager Beaver, and Sussex Best, all at £3/pint, while in December 2008 the beers were mostly Christmas specials at about £3.10.
The food here has usually been good, although there has been a fairly high turnover of chefs during the last few years. On our visit in June 2008, the Thai mixed starter platter (£9.50) was quite good, with a generous selection of dumplings, spring rolls, barbecue pork and satay chicken kebabs and prawn crackers. The latter were a little greasy and there was no satay sauce, but everything was tasty. Thai red chicken curry (£7ish) was also quite good, although a purist might find fault with the use of western vegetables (courgettes and peas). Their steak was described by one of the party as "a little thin", and was cooked medium when requested rare.
