The Peacock was a pub in the City, just north of the Tower of London. According to the Dec 2017/Jan 2018 London Drinker, it has closed and the lease is on the market along with the freehold of the entire building. The information below is retained for historical purposes.
Pub in the City, just north of the Tower of London. Note that it's closed on weekends, like most City pubs. Very enthusiastic service, and indeed very enthusiastic customers on our first (evening) visit -- there was a significant quantity of dancing and singing along to the jukebox (Bee Gees, Flying Pickets, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith). Adam showed signs of wanting to join in. On our second visit, we learned that usually if you admit that it's your birthday, you'll be offered an unspecified but lethal drink on the house. As we were on a Circle Line pub crawl, the birthday boy instead got a packet of pork scratchings. Butcombe bitter was £2.80/pint as of September 2007. The 2008 Good Beer Guide says there's a selection of pub games available from the bar — not sure if they mean board games or what. Projection screen for sport, live music at weekends, darts and pool (one table) upstairs. Accessibility: Toilets are up a flight of stairs.
