The decor has a sort of faded-glamour feel, with black pleather-and-velvet banquettes beneath huge cut-glass-style light fittings. Candle wax dribbles artfully down an exposed-brick feature wall, and a large Renoir print hangs above the doorway dividing two of the sections. Black lino covers the floor, heavily worn in places to reveal wooden boards beneath. The effect is slightly spoiled by a collection of cartoonish Guinness advertising posters mounted on a clumsily-finished gantry.
It's divided into two rooms inside, with three handpumps on each bar. One also has a piano. Tables are large and wooden, with flowers on in small vases.

[[Kake]] visited on a Tuesday afternoon in September 2019. Arriving a little before 5pm, I was the only customer. Rock/metal was playing, a little louder than ideal for conversation. A half of lime and soda was 50p.
On our Sunday afternoon visit as part of the September 2010 [[Category 38 Bus Route Pub Crawl|38 bus route pub crawl]], there were three real ales on offer, duplicated on each bar; Moorhouse Black Cat, Westgate Sun Dance, and Keltek King. They also had Budvar on tap. Large screens in both rooms were showing football with the sound turned up loud.

They aren't doing food or real ale at the moment, but intend to once the refurbishment is complete.
As of September 2010, food is served noon-2:30pm and 5:30pm-10pm Mon-Fri; noon-10pm Sat; and noon-8pm Sun [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5020659422/ photo of menu]. We tried a few pizzas [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5020674816/ photo], which were fairly thick crusted but not bad. Mussels with tomato, chilli, and basil (£6) [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5020739646/ photo] were fine too, with plenty of chilli and basil; they came with a couple of slices of decent but very soft-crusted bread.

Accessibility: A small step to get in, maybe a couple of inches. No steps to the ladies' once you're in, but the door is quite heavy.
Accessibility: Can't remember if there was a step to get in. There's a step down inside the gents' toilet which is a bit of a surprise if you're not expecting it.
