Historical version 8 of Mudra, E11 4RD (view current version)

  • 715 Leytonstone High Road

Mudra was an Indian restaurant in Leytonstone. As of mid-2009, it had closed and the premises were occupied by Rasa Mudra, part of the Rasa chain of restaurants. This later closed in its turn, giving way to another Indian restaurant called Swad @ Mudra. It's not clear to what extent the staff and menu changed or were retained during all this.

The information below is retained for people who want to know what it used to be like.

Lovely restaurant in Leytonstone advertising "South & North Indian Country Cuisine" - mostly vegetarian, but apparently the meat is also extremely tasty. It's run by Hindi-speaking Indians, and decorated suitably but not gaudily. The lighting and acoustics are extremely good.

Vegetarian mains run around £4 (as of late 2008), and accompaniments such as rice, naan, dosa, idiappam, chapatti, poori, or paratha from around £2. They do a very good filling (and cheap) lunch platter as well.

They offer takeaway and delivery, and you can order online from Hungry House.
