| Wetherspoons pub on Penge High Street, in the Good Beer Guide. It's quite big, but has small booths at the side (some of them with books!) for a bit of privacy. Only been here once, on a Friday afternoon. The usual Wetherspoons daytime drinkers were in evidence, but the atmosphere wasn't unpleasant. Barstaff were very friendly. There are some pubs where I wouldn't feel comfortable going for a drink on my own, but this isn't one of them. --[[Kake]] Food is the standard Wetherspoons menu, competently prepared. And how can you go wrong with two main meals for six quid? (We both had lasagne, which was excellent for the price.)
