Randomness Guide to London - Differences between Version 34 and Version 9 of Mawson Arms, W4 2QA

Version 34 Version 9
Line 0 == == Line 0
The Mawson Arms (also known as the Fox & Hounds) was a pub in Chiswick, and the official brewery tap for the Fuller's brewery next door.
Good Beer Guide pub in Chiswick, and the official brewery tap for the Fuller's brewery next door - tours of the brewery (£6 as of March 2008) start and finish here. Food is served at lunchtimes, and is above-average (if uninspired) pub food, at reasonable prices. Your testers had a steak and ale pie (standard Fullers fare - double-crust pie with a shortcrust base and puff top), sausages (slightly hoppy) and mash, and a perfectly adequate cheeseburger. Daily specials are available, but were slightly uninspired when visited in December 2007 (shepherd's pie, omelette). Food was not sampled in March 2008.
Line 2 == == Line 2
Following the sale of Fuller's brewery operations to Asahi in early 2019, the Mawson Arms remained open until forced to close by the Covid-19 pandemic a year later. In July 2020, Fuller's announced that it would not be reopening.
As you might expect, the beer is perfectly kept. London Pride was £2.50. The current licensees are TJ and Christine, formerly of the Star Tavern.

The location right next to the A4 isn't ideal, but the pub is a convenient 100m from the Thames Path.

The building actually used to house two separate pubs — the Mawson Arms and the Fox And Hounds. Although these have now been combined into a single pub, the exterior signage still bears both names, and inside the pub it's still obvious where the old dividing wall used to be.

In December 2007, elvum and friends found the food to be above-average (if uninspired) pub food, at reasonable prices. Specifically, we sampled a steak and ale pie (standard Fullers fare — double-crust pie with a shortcrust base and puff top), sausages (slightly hoppy) and mash, and a perfectly adequate cheeseburger. Daily specials are available, but were slightly uninspired on this visit (shepherd's pie, omelette).
