Historical version 33 of Mawson Arms, W4 2QA (view current version)

Pub in Chiswick, and the official brewery tap for the Fuller's brewery next door — tours of the brewery (£10 for adults as of early 2010) start and finish here. The location right next to the A4 isn't ideal, but the pub is a convenient 100m from the Thames Path.

The building actually used to house two separate pubs — the Mawson Arms and the Fox And Hounds. Although these have now been combined into a single pub, the exterior signage still bears both names, and inside the pub it's still obvious where the old dividing wall used to be.

As you might expect, the beer is perfectly kept. London Pride was £2.50 in December 2007.

As of early 2010, food is served noon-7pm. In December 2007, elvum and friends found it to be above-average (if uninspired) pub food, at reasonable prices. Specifically, we sampled a steak and ale pie (standard Fullers fare — double-crust pie with a shortcrust base and puff top), sausages (slightly hoppy) and mash, and a perfectly adequate cheeseburger. Daily specials are available, but were slightly uninspired on this visit (shepherd's pie, omelette).

Note the rather restricted opening hours — later opening can be arranged for events.
