Good Beer Guide pub in Chiswick, and the official brewery tap for the Fuller's brewery next door - tours of the brewery (£10 for adults as of September 2008) start and finish here. The location right next to the A4 isn't ideal, but the pub is a convenient 100m from the Thames Path.
Food is served at lunchtimes (noon-3pm), and is above-average (if uninspired) pub food, at reasonable prices. In December 2007, elvum and friends sampled a steak and ale pie (standard Fullers fare - double-crust pie with a shortcrust base and puff top), sausages (slightly hoppy) and mash, and a perfectly adequate cheeseburger. Daily specials are available, but were slightly uninspired on this visit (shepherd's pie, omelette).
As you might expect, the beer is perfectly kept. London Pride was £2.50. The current licensees are TJ and Christine, formerly of the Star Tavern.
Note the rather restricted opening hours - later opening can be arranged for events.
The building actually used to house two separate pubs - the Mawson Arms and the Fox And Hounds. Although these have now been combined into a single pub, the exterior signage still bears both names, and inside the pub it's still obvious where the old dividing wall used to be.
