Food is served at lunchtimes (noon-3pm), and is above-average (if uninspired) pub food, at reasonable prices. Nick and fellow Perlmongers tested a steak and ale pie (standard Fullers fare - double-crust pie with a shortcrust base and puff top), sausages (slightly hoppy) and mash, and a perfectly adequate cheeseburger. Daily specials are available, but were slightly uninspired when visited in December 2007 (shepherd's pie, omelette). Food was not sampled in March 2008.

As you might expect, the beer is perfectly kept. London Pride was £2.50. The current licensees are TJ and Christine, formerly of the Star Tavern.

Somewhat confusingly, the exterior signage still uses the old name Fox and Hounds. The location right next to the A4 isn't ideal, but the pub is a convenient 100m from the Thames Path.
Somewhat confusingly, half the pub retains the identity of the Fox and Hounds, with the bar actually running across the former divide between the two pubs, although all but the glass return point and 1 till are in the Mawson Arms. Note the rather restricted opening hours - later opening can be arranged for events.
