It [http://walthamstowscene.org.uk/2011/01/04/the-lock-closes-cornelius-opens/ closed some time around the start of 2011] and was replaced by a Romanian/Italian restaurant called [http://www.restaurantcornelius.co.uk/ Cornelius].
Restaurant on the River Lea in Tottenham Hale, focusing on local produce and doing things from scratch. Looks quite nice; perhaps not worth a long journey, but certainly worth checking out if you're in the area. Sounds as though it's quite cheap too.

Restaurant on the River Lea in [[Locale Tottenham Hale|Tottenham Hale]], focusing on local produce and doing things from scratch. The chef is Gordon Ramsay-trained and it shows, although he also understands about running a business as the prices are reasonable (and at the weekend when they do a two-course set lunch for around £12, it's a bargain).

The food is excellent - although they don't list more than one vegetarian dish, you just have to ask and they will tell you how any dish can be adapted to meet your requirements. So no need to worry if you don't like polenta!

The steak for two is recommended; it's brought out raw for you to approve, and then served sliced on a chopping board, with bowls of vegetables as well. The two meat eaters at my table couldn't finish it all and we ended up taking some of it home!
