Child-friendliness: Young children are clearly welcome (kid-friendly drinks and snacks in the fridge etc), plenty of room for pushchairs, however I didn't see any highchairs.

Small cafe in Sydenham, on the junction of Kirkdale and Dartmouth Road.

The building is a former pub, The Woodman, which is still reflected on the exterior signage (the nearby bus stop also still refers to 'The Woodman'). It's bright and airy inside, with decor quite like that of a modern pub (wooden floors, tables and chairs, tiled counter). There a few tables outside, with a good view of passing buses. The menu has the usual lunchtime fare of sandwiches/soups, and a wide range of homemade cakes, with plenty of dairy-free and gluten-free options.

Kat visited on a Friday lunchtime in March 2019 for a takeaway coffee, and decided to try a slice of vegan carrot & ginger cake as well. The cake itself was pretty good and quite unusual: it was made with fresh ginger, and had a strong pineapple/orange zing to the icing, which was topped with a garnish of edible flowers. The latte and cake came to £6 total. It was busy, with most of the tables taken up by parents and small children, with a few builders sat on the tables outside enjoying their coffee in the sunshine. Staff were friendly and happy to explain the ingredients for the cakes.
