Real ale pub very close to Waterloo Station, hidden under the arches of a railway bridge.

The entrance to this apparently very small pub is off Mepham Street, hidden down behind the bus stops outside Waterloo. However, going through the small front room leads you into a much larger space behind. There's a beer garden out the back too. Sport is shown on big screens, the back bar has a pinball machine (Mediaeval Madness, as of May 2008), and the feel is very much that of a locals' pub - despite its proximity to a major transport hub.

Kake, Bec, Bob, and others visited on a Friday afternoon in May 2008 as part of the Waterloo & City Line pub crawl. Beers available were TEA, Doom Bar, Greene King IPA, Broadside, Abbott, and Young's Ordinary.

Food is served noon-9pm Monday to Saturday, and noon-4pm Sunday. Ewan wouldn't particularly recommend it, from the evidence of what he saw being eaten on a visit in early 2008. Fairly standard pub choices, nothing special - nachos £5 (50p extra with beef chilli), baguettes/sandwiches (e.g. BLT, cheese and onion, bacon and brie) £3.50-4, burgers (including a veggie option) £5-6, mains between £5 (chilli con carne) and £9 (8oz ribeye steak with trimmings).
