Good Beer Guide pub near Charing Cross Station and the National Portrait Gallery. The windows at the front are opened in nice weather to let the breeze and sunshine in. Six real ales on tap, all under £3 as far as I could tell. (On out visit the beers available were Landlord, Belhaven Fruit Beer, Bateman's XXXB, Spitfire and Harvey's Sussex Best(the landlord and fruit beer were certainly £2.90))
This was very busy due no doubt to the proximity of Theatreland and Charing X. The upstairs room was closed for a private booking, so it might be better another time; it started to empty a bit after 7 and we managed to claim a corner. Not a place to take a large group without a booking.
The only food served is sausages in baguettes, but they're "award-winning" sausages, and they're served all day.
