Chinese restaurant on Tooley Street in Bermondsey.

secretlondon and colleagues visited one Friday lunchtime in June 2009. We had the set lunch which is £7.50 a head (plus 10% service charge). This is only one course - a choice of a variety of mains with rice or noodles. One colleague had chow mein from the main menu and that also cost £7.50 (with 75p service charge).

My food was fine but had quite a lot of chillis in. Two colleagues had lemon chicken which we reckoned tasted like lemon curd. It was very sweet.

Each bit of the bill had the 10% service charge added and one colleague suggested that we wouldn't pay it (the service was fine, it was the principle). The manager was brought out who said that the service charge was compulsory and was clearly listed on the menu. The service charge was mentioned under the set lunch menu but not for the a la carte. However we thought that if it is compulsory it isn't a service charge. Reluctantly we paid the charge but it appears that the food costs 10% more than it says in the menu.

Accessibility: Steps to enter. Toilets not checked.
