An odd Asian-Italian fusion restaurant, opposite the West Hampstead London Overground station.

In keeping with the confusion of cuisines, the decor of this restaurant doesn't fit into any particular idiom, preferring an international (Ikea-style?) aesthetic which verges on blandness. Long tables reminiscent of those at Wagamama and other buffet-style restaurants, but with a dark-wood veneer, some kind of stitched bamboo wallpaper and the ambience of a style bar.

The menu is likewise odd, presenting a huge variety of options: decision-making is difficult. There are pizzas and pasta dishes, dim sum and sushi, burgers, salads, and all things in between. Ewan settled on a Thai vegetable pizza, which with its lovely thin crust was definitely tasty, despite the oddness of the Thai flavours combined with an Italian base. Jo's mozzarella salad featured slices of the cheese interleaved with tomatoes with fresh basil and a balsamic dressing -- more assuredly on the Italian end of the spectrum.

On a Saturday lunchtime, the place didn't have more than a few diners, and appeared to be staffed by just one person. However, service was friendly, and the wait for food wasn't too long.

Comment added by gossipboy: I saw the comments left by Ewan and Jo which really intrigued me. 'The restaurant has no real style about it, yet its a bit like wagamama'...... Surely that's a style in its self? (anyway not one to split hairs). Also an odd Asian-Italian fusion restaurant (this has to been seen at first hand - just for the oddness of it) So I visited the restaurant last night 13.05.09 My first impressions were not odd, very stylised and very Asian with sweet with the little candles on the tables (is this the same glo at West Hampstead visited by Ewan and Jo?)On arrival the waiter informed us that they had a menu change this week and had gone totally Asian brought on by customer feedback apparently.....(what a restaurant who listens to its customers?.....surely not!)So all the confusion on the fusion has gone! The new menu is quite something and being a typical Brit I ordered the Thai battered fish and Chilli chips and my guest had the Burger (Yes Ewan they do burgers - but they didn't when you visited!!!!) Both dishes were great and good size portions too. We tried the new cocktails at £4.95 each, all of which were great tasting and full of flavour. I mentioned this site and review to the waiter and that I would post a comment. This is for Anupam ONE of the many waiters working at glo. Good luck guys with the new menu. Can't comment on the old one as I never knew you existed....but thanks to Ewan and Jo I do now!!
