This was a branch of [[Category Eat Branches|Eat]], a sandwich/soup/pie/salad/coffee shop chain that was [https://london.eater.com/2019/5/22/18635323/pret-a-manger-eat-acquisiton-vegeterian sold to Pret A Manger] in 2019 and [https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/mar/23/sandwich-chain-eat-closes-permanently-after-24-years closed down for good] in March 2020. (We think this branch might have closed down before the final closure of the chain, but can't confirm this for definite.)

This place is usually insanely packed on weekday lunchtimes, as it's one of the only places to offer all the hungry civil servants who work locally the opportunity to get hot soup to take back to their desks. I ([[AlexTiefling]]) don't think I've ever managed to sit down inside and eat at this branch, and Cardinal Place (like Victoria Street itself) is an appalling wind tunnel, so I don't recommend the 'outdoor' tables. (In Cardinal Place, the wind can get so strong that on one occasion in early 2007, the glass door of the Ha!Ha! bar opposite this branch was torn clean off and shattered.)

All of which said, it's a reasonably reliable place to get healthy veggie-friendly food. The vegan options are expensive and dull, though.
