Historical version 5 of East Dulwich Tavern, SE22 8EW (view current version)

A large pub on the corner of Lordship Lane in East Dulwich which advertises comedy, live music and appears to have a restaurant upstairs.

Inside, this place is mostly stripped-out, with bare floorboards and couches on a few different levels in the front room, on the street corner. There's also seating around the large central bar, and an extensive back room behind the bar, so plenty of seating is always available.

The bar features four handpulls for ale, which on a November 2009 visit were dispensing Young's ordinary, Fuller's London Pride, and what appeared to be two guest ales, Moorhouse bitter (£3.30/pint) and Wooden Hand Cornish Mutiny. There's also an extensive range of draught beers including Grolsch Weizen, Zatec, Heineken, Amstel, as well as Stowford Press and Addlestone's ciders.

Ewan's verdict: Visiting on a weekday late-afternoon, this place was quieter than other nearby pubs and bars, and it feels a little impersonal and draughty. However, it undoubtedly gets packed on the weekends.
