Micropub in Swanley.

It's a tiny space, situated in a converted public convenience, but they've made good use of the room they do have, with a mix of high and low seating including a surprisingly comfortable banquette. The terracotta tiles of the floor are interrupted here and there by interesting mosaic detailing, made from broken-up tiles rearranged around a selection of bottle tops. A kilner jar of dog treats stands on one shelf. There's also plenty of outside seating, in a little garden area at the side of a quiet back road.

Kake visited on a Thursday afternoon in September 2019. There were already a couple of customers in even though I arrived before their official opening time of 4pm. Music was playing, not too loud, and service was friendly and chatty.

There were four ales on: Mad Cat Plum Source Porter (£1.80/half with CAMRA discount), Iron Pier Bitter, Reunion Beardtongue, and Adnams Lighthouse. Unusually for a micropub, the ales were on handpump rather than gravity.

They usually do snacks like sausage rolls, but had run out due to a busy week of events. A large serving of dry roast peanuts was £1.75.

They have free WiFi, with the password displayed on a board, and there are several conveniently-located plug sockets.

Accessibility: Three steps to get in. No further steps to the toilet (a single unisex cubicle) once you're in.
