Comment added by Anonymous: Yeah the central reservation has been moved, opening up the pub with more sitting and standing room. A great pub with a great atmosphere.

A reasonable pub between St James's Park and Victoria Station, in Westminster.

Although tucked off a side-street in a labyrinthine area of town, this place is still predictably popular with local office workers and political staffers after work on weekdays, the primary source of its clientele. There's table seating around the edge of the room, with most of the room taken up a multi-pronged central reservation of shelves for glasses and standing room. There are a few more larger tables up a few steps at the back, and then a large beer garden out the back (drinkers generally take up the entire alleyway, though only a small area has tables).

The bar has four handpulls for ale, with Courage Directors apparently a regular, though on a May 2009 visit two others are off and the fourth has a hand-written clip offering Young's ordinary. There's also the expected draught lagers, and a bit of a wait to get to the bar due to all the people crowding in.

Food is served off a standard Spirit Group menu, offering all the usual pub standards.

Comment added by Anonymous: This is not a Spirit Pub, has had a refurb, a new menu, new management and a new chef since this was written. The pub can also be hired at weekends and tables can be booked throughout the week.
