Cah Chi was a Korean restaurant in Earlsfield. It has now closed. The information below is retained for historical purposes.
Korean restaurant in Earlsfield. It's a small space, seating only about 35-40 people at sturdy square tables covered with Formica in a rustic wood effect. The floor is (real) wood, and art prints and wooden masks hang on the walls. Kake visited on a Saturday lunchtime in March 2017. There were four other customers when I arrived a little after 12:30pm, and several more turned up while I was there. Korean pop music was playing, not too loud. Four complimentary side dishes (banchan) were placed on the table moments after I'd ordered: kimchi, potato, aubergine, and sweet soya beans photo. The aubergine was particularly good — soft and silky but in no way overcooked. The potato was also very well-judged, being firm enough to be interesting but not undercooked. Gun-mandu (군만두; fried dumplings; £6 for the vegetable option) photo arrived hot and freshly fried. They seemed to be mainly filled with cabbage, but were flavourful enough once dunked in the accompanying soy sauce dip. Japchae (잡채; stir-fried glass noodles; £8 for the beef option) photo had a good texture and flavour. The proportions of the different ingredients were well-balanced, and the distinct flavour of each vegetable came through well. Service was welcoming and efficient. Tap water arrived in a glass with ice, and was replenished twice from a jug, both times before I'd completely run out. A 10% service charge was added to the bill. They do BYOB for wine only. They also only accept cash or cheques; no cards. Accessibility: A very small step to get in, no more than an inch. A step up, narrow turn, and two steps down to the toilets.
