Brown And Green On The Triangle, SE19 2PR

Cafe on the Southern tip of the Crystal Palace triangle, part of a small local chain.

Seating is split over two rooms; you order and pay at the counter in the front room. The menu focuses on breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, toasties and cakes, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. (There's a comprehensive allergens list on their website.)

Kat and Sarah visited for brunch on Christmas Eve 2019 (a Tuesday). It was pretty busy at 11.30am, but there were a couple of tables free. Kat went for the Masala breakfast: vegan samosa (enormous, with a chapati as the 'pastry'), dal (quite spicy), fried tomato, mushrooms, masala scrambled egg, pickles & coriander. It was £11 and all the bits were delicious. A latte was £2.70. Sarah had the veggie breakfast (halloumi, fried egg, rocket, mushroom, tomato, beans, toast, £9) and found it 'very good'.

Child friendliness: several young families were present on our visit. There's a separate kids menu - you can have a toastie with a filling of just marmite!

Kat's verdict: Great brunch spot catering for many dietary requirements. I would definitely return (however I do live relatively nearby).
