Shepherd Neame pub just opposite Smithfield Market. Note that it's closed on weekends.

Kake visited on a Tuesday evening in September 2008. Three of the four handpumps were in action, serving Canterbury Jack (£1.45/half), Bishops Finger, and Spitfire. There were still a few seats left at 6:15pm, but the place was filling up rapidly.

As of September 2008, food is served noon-3pm and 6pm-9pm Mon-Thu, and noon-3pm Fri (i.e. no food on Friday evenings). They get their meat from Smithfield Market, and the menu is meat-heavy. Sandwiches are priced between £4.50 (BLT) and £5.75 (Bishops Club), and mains between £6.50 (burger of the day) and £10 (steak of the day, served with hand-cut chips and salad). The only vegetarian option is the brie and avocado sandwich (£4.75).

There's a bookable function room upstairs, but the Shepherd Neame website says you have to pay for it.
