<b>Note:</b> The Big Green Bookshop will be [https://www.thebookseller.com/news/big-green-bookshop-co-founders-plans-form-wood-green-co-operative-923726 closing its physical premises and moving online] at the end of January 2019.
They have a decent SF section (although it has fantasy and horror mixed in), plus crime, general fiction, cookery, gardening, etc. Small London section (general London - didn't see anything particularly local). They also have a "multicultural" section, which appears to mean "books not by or about white people".

[[Kake]] has visited quite a few times now, most recently in September 2010. The owners are both very friendly, and willing to have a chat if they're not busy.
There is a sofa, and the owners are friendly. They seem to run quite a lot of events, including "meet the author" type things, reading groups, writing workshops, etc. If you don't see what you want on the shelves, they say they can get most titles within 24 hours; and they also have an out-of-print book search service.

They have a small but good SF section, and a somewhat larger fantasy section. There's also a separate London section, with local history books as well as general London books. They also have the usual fiction, children's books, etc, and in mid-2011 they added a second-hand section too.
Simon, one of the owners, comments: "Hurrah, thanks for coming to our shop, and saying lovely things too. We have a suggestion box, which we actually look at, so the horror thing I will try and sort out. It's probably a good idea.
We do actually have a good selection of
local history books, but I guess we should make them easier to find. Something else to do v soon.
Come and visit us soon
, there's a comfy sofa and usually coffee on the go!"

They run quite a lot of events, including "meet the author" type things, reading groups, quizzes, writing workshops, etc. If you don't see what you want on the shelves, they can get most titles within 24 hours; and they also have an out-of-print book search service. You can also order books online via their website; postage is free, and payment is via PayPal.

Accessibility: A rather high step up to get in.

Friendly independent bookshop in Wood Green, just off the main road. (Despite the "Unit 1" in the address, the frontage is directly on Brampton Park Road.)
