Comment added by howard: Visited on 2008-03-11, friendly staff and also friendly visitors. Sports/races on flat screen. They serve excellent real ales from Nethergate, and seems to have a consciousness about keeping them well. I tried the Nethergate Azzaparrot, Nethergate Suffolk County and Nethergate IPA, all very good.

Previously known as the Black Bull, a pub serving a wide range of well-kept Nethergate beers. Reopened as Bar Nakoda in late 2007. Note that the photo on this page is from when it was still the Black Bull - the outside still looks fairly similar but has a long lit-up sign on the frontage with "Nakoda" written vertically on it.

They still have Nethergate real ales; on our visit in December 2007 they were serving Old Growler, Sussex County and Augustinian all at £2.80/pint. The beer was still well kept.

The interior is fairly sparse, with a few banquette-enclosed tables to one side (seating maybe eight at each) and a few table/chair clusters scattered around the rest of the interior. Most of the other customers (the post-work crowd) during our visit chose to ignore the seating in favour of standing around by the bar.

Doesn't serve food at the time of writing (December 2007) but after Christmas they plan to start serving an Indian buffet as well as an a la carte Indian menu. The buffet serving area had already been at least partially constructed by the time of our visit.
