With the exception of the salt beef filling (which is carved to order), the bagels are pre-filled and on display behind the counter, but this does speed things up and the turnover is very high, so they are usually very fresh. [[Kat]]'s usual is a salmon and cream cheese bagel (£2.40), although the vegetarian pizza slice (£1) is another great dinner option (the staff will heat up your slice in the microwave for no extra cost). Bread seems to be baked in batches at odd times throughout the day — it's usually about 50/50 whether or not there will be any loaves left when you get there.

It's a small shop on the corner of the busy A10 one-way-system, and extremely popular with locals, late-night party-goers and the police from the nearby station. It's very functional inside, with no seats or even anywhere to lean. The staff are rather brusque, but very efficient.

Kat's verdict: excellent value and very convenient.

Accessibility: a step to get in.
