Inexpensive “modernist” restaurant in North London, billing itself as “fine dining in trainers”. Still not been here yet, but really really want to.
Inexpensive “modernist” restaurant in North London. Mentioned in [http://observer.guardian.co.uk/foodmonthly/futureoffood/story/0,,1969448,00.html the Observer Food Monthly]. Not been here yet but need to try it out. The website has this little online booking gadget that shows availability; not sure if it actually works though. They have a 6-course tasting menu for £40 (as of December 2006).

Note the restricted opening hours; they're no longer open at lunchtimes, or on Mondays or Sundays. Also note that they no longer offer a la carte menu; but this is scant hardship since they do offer a 9-course tasting menu from which you can choose 3 (£25), 6 (£40), or 9 (£60) courses, and this menu is set to change every month.

If you cant get through on email you could try calling them (0207 613 0477) or use the online booking (gadget) it does work!

[[Kake]] writes: Maybe they just hate me :) I sent them email about a group booking and despite two followups I never heard anything back. Or maybe it was because it was just after they'd opened and their IT stuff wasn't set up properly yet? I'll give it another go some time, thanks for the encouragement. I'm definitely going to go there at some point; it sounds really good.
