French restaurant in Marylebone, part of a small chain found in the posher bits of London. It's just off the High Street, allowing a slightly less hectic lunch experience overlooking the Waitrose car park.

Kat booked online for her September 2014 lunchtime visit. The spacious front section by the bar was fairly busy but not full; the rear section (just as large) was totally empty. A basket of bread was brought unprompted, with some good salted butter (this didn't show on the bill). The lunchtime set menu was reasonably good value (£13.50 for 2 courses) if a little unexciting. The ham hock terrine was quite rough and ready but a decent sized portion - too much for the toast it was served with, but we still had some bread in the basket so this wasn't a problem. The chicken and leek pie was a structurally unsound false pie (with a floating puff crust) but otherwise fine. The puddings were much more adventurous - we were presented with a large tray of delicious-looking pastries, cakes and tarts to choose from (all £5.50 each). The carrot cake was moist and didn't have too much icing, while the mille-feuilles and the bafflingly-named 'cake of the north' both went down very well.

Staff were friendly and efficient (and very patient when one of our party asked about the fish of the day in intense, mind-numbing detail). A large bottle of Perrier was £4 but the staff were happy to bring us a jug of tap water as well. A 12.5% service charge was automatically added to the bill.

Kat's verdict: a decent mid-priced option for the area. Definitely worth going for pudding.
