Pub near Old Street Station, on the corner of City Road and Leonard Street. It's part of the Orchid Group, probably their "Independent Local" sub-brand.

It's quite small inside, with much of the space on the ground floor taken up by the semicircular bar. The decor is traditional, with exposed floorboards, banquette seating lining the walls, and stools at the bar. There are several flatscreens. An upper bar on the first floor has a pool table, a dartboard, and at least one more flatscreen, but isn't always open.

Kake visited on a Monday lunchtime in October 2011. There were three real ales available: London Pride, Greene King IPA, and Greene King Winged Angel (a "charity ale"; £1.70/half). A pint of lime and soda was £1.

There were quite a few people in when I arrived at 1pm, many of them having lunch; there were only a couple of free tables. It did get less busy while I was there. Music was playing fairly quietly, and mostly drowned out by conversation. The flatscreens were showing sport with the sound either turned off or down very low.

Food is served weekday lunchtimes at least; not sure about other times. See photos of menu as of October 2011: page 1, page 2.

They have free wireless; as of October 2011 the access code of the day is chalked on a board.

Accessibility: No step at entrance, but the gents' toilets are down a flight of stairs in the basement and the ladies' are up a flight of stairs with a sturdy handrail on both sides.
