Pub in [[Locale Chipstead|Chipstead]].

It's quite off the beaten track, being located on the outskirts of Chipstead (which itself is on the outskirts of London), around a kilometre's walk from [[Chipstead Station]].  Surrounded by fields and footpaths, its name is quite appropriate even if one does suspect most of the clientele actually drive there.

Despite obvious modernisations it still has something of the feel of an old-fashioned country pub, with uneven beams visible in the low ceilings and flagstone flooring around brick-built fireplaces (a sign warns customers not to add fuel to the fire themselves).

The interior is divided into several sections, with free passage between them.  To one side as you enter is a restaurant area, ready set with wine glasses.  To the other side is the main bar area, with three side rooms beyond and doors leading out to a pleasant paved beer garden surrounded by shrubs.  Seating is a mix of padded half-round armchairs, sofas, and tall stools at barrel-shaped tables.

[[Kake]] visited on a Thursday afternoon in May 2019.  There were quite a lot of people in when I arrived around 2pm, many of them in the garden enjoying the good weather.  Music was playing very quietly.  The handpumps were clipped for Sharp's Doom Bar and St Austell Tribute.  A pint of lime and soda was &pound;2.

Food is served all day, and they have WiFi via O2.

Accessibility: No steps to get in, or to a reasonable proportion of the seating.  There's an accessible toilet on the level.  One of the side rooms is up a step, and the ladies' toilet is up three more steps from there. Two steps to the restaurant area.  A step to the garden.  The cubicles in the ladies' are a bit tricky to get into due to overly-large inward-opening doors that only just manage to swing past the toilet, but not too bad once you're in.  The pub has its own car park.
