Well, it's a Wetherspoons Free House and it's situated in a fairly prosperous stretch of Metroland (specifically in Hertfordshire, out on the reaches of the Metropolitan Line). There's little to set this apart from the usual format: large spaces with plenty of seating (including a cluster of couches by the front windows), good range of drinks at very favourable prices (including a few guest ales), general lack of atmosphere. Having said that, they are making an effort to connect with history by naming it after a favoured local, William Penn (who lived on the High St here and went on to found Pennsylvania) and decorating it faux wood panelling and hanging prints (and other related ephemera) of Native American warriors. Our group visited on a Saturday early evening, when it was still fairly quiet, and were happily accommodated (including children). * [http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/91/9161/Pennysylvanian/Rickmansworth Beer In The Evening comments] <small>Last visited by [[Ewan]], Jo and others, 24 Nov 2007.
