Kikirocs was a cafe next to [[South Woodford Station]]. It has now closed. According to Google Street View, by September 2024 it had been replaced by a Greek cafe called Bread & Oregano. The information below is retained for historical purposes.
Cafe next to [[South Woodford Station]]. It opened [http://web.archive.org/web/20210529135719/https://twitter.com/kikirocscrew/status/978258856206880768 in March 2018]. Towards the end of the week it also opens late as a bar. It's a small space, seating just a dozen people in the front section and around the same number in the back. Matching upright wooden chairs are drawn up to small square copper-topped tables, each with its own little pot of succulents. Sturdy bare boards are underfoot, and exposed brickwork on the walls adds interest. Up a few steps at the back is a conservatory-style area with fairylight-strewn walls, also featuring a semi-enclosed children's play area. A service counter made from recycled doors sits in one corner, laid out with a display of bagels and sweet pastries, while repurposed wooden crates act as shelves on the wall above to hold bags of coffee beans, boxes of Teapigs tea, and a few bottled beers. [[Kake]] visited on a Thursday lunchtime in January 2019. There were about half a dozen other customers when I arrived around 1pm. Music was playing, not too loud. Service was friendly and helpful. A mozzarella, avocado, tomato, and pesto bagel (£6) [https://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/45998950154/ photo] came with a generous amount of house-made coleslaw on the side. The fillings were good quality and nicely balanced, but I wished they hadn't been fridge-cold. However, this is a minor point, as they soon warmed up inside the lightly toasted bagel. The coleslaw was delicious, made from grated carrot, slivered red and white cabbage, just enough red onion to add interest, and a mayonnaise-free dressing based on fruit juices, vinegar, and olive oil. Child-friendliness: There's a pull-down baby change table in the toilet. They have at least two highchairs. There's a semi-enclosed children's play area in the back room. Accessibility: A large step to get in. No further steps to the toilet, which is a decent-sized unisex cubicle albeit with a slightly narrow door. A couple of steps to the back room (including the children's play area).
