Nicholson's (Mitchells and Butlers) pub in Canary Wharf. It's a large space, curving around the base of a corner block on the edge of the dock. There's a reasonable amount of natural light, though a dimmer, cosier area on a dais tucked to one side provides a more intimate atmosphere. Seating is mainly freestanding normal-height chairs and tables, but there are also sofas, banquettes, and a few high tables along the patio doors that line the outside wall. Plenty more seating is available on the walkway out the front, with a view of the docks and the never-ending construction work of the Canary Wharf estate. Although the building must have been constructed relatively recently, the decor has a traditional theme, with lots of dark-varnished wood, battered leather sofas, wood panelling, a swirly patterned carpet on the dais seating, and old sideboards holding bits of tat. Random facts about the local area are written here and there on the walls and pillars photo. Kake visited on a Thursday morning in October 2018. Arriving at their opening time of 11am, I was the first customer of the day, though two more turned up shortly afterwards. Music was playing quietly. Service was friendly and helpful. The twelve handpumps were clipped for ten real ales, most of them from Siren: Half Mast, Here's Johnny, Sound Wave, Suspended In Mosaic, Sweet Dream, Under Current, and Yulu, as well as Sharp's Doom Bar, Fuller's London Pride, and Nicholson's Pale Ale. A pint of lime and soda was free! Food is served throughout the day from a mostly chain-wide menu, including bar snacks. Camembert wedges (£4.50) photo arrived worryingly quickly, but were actually fine. The breading was perhaps a little over-browned, but wasn't too hard or thick, and the cheese itself was fine. They have free WiFi via O2. Accessibility: No steps to get in, and the bar, toilets (including a RADAR-locked accessible one), and the majority of the seating are all on the level. The cubicle doors in the ladies' open outwards.
