The White Swan was a traditional pub near Brent Cross Station, serving Hungarian food. It has now closed, and as of July 2013 the building is boarded up photo.

The information below is retained for historical purposes.

A traditional pub near Brent Cross Station, which serves Hungarian food.

The space inside is idiosyncratically laid-out, with some tables around the bar, and another area up a step to the right with a pool table and further banquette seating. A dining area is laid out between the two, nestled amongst some rather close-set pillars, with tables neatly decked out in red-and-white-checked tablecloths. On Ewan's Saturday afternoon visit, there were a number of regulars sitting on stools by the bar, as well as a few other tables taken up, but there was plenty of space.

There are four handpulls at the bar, but the only ale on offer is Fuller's London Pride. Draught taps dispense Staropramen, Guinness and other standard lagers.

The food menu focuses on Hungarian dishes and is in Hungarian, though there's also an English translation available. Despite the area around the pub being heavily populated by Jewish families, the food is not kosher (plenty of the dishes involve pork, to take a small example).

There's a large beer garden out the back (beyond the pool table), with about 10-15 picnic tables set on an attractive lawn area photo. Tables have umbrellas, and there's plenty of space around them. There's also a few tables out the front of the pub.

Ewan's verdict: This is by most measures a fairly unassuming locals' pub, but it's in an area with a noticeable lack of any other pubs. For all that there's no other option, then, it's a perfectly pleasant place for a drink.

Accessibility: No steps to get in, but there's a step to the beer garden entrance.
