bob visited on a Thursday lunchtime in September 2008 and had the three-course set lunch (£15; the two-course version was £12). I also had a large bottle of still water, which was £3.
The starter was veal tongue with marinated anchovies and rocket salad photo. This was very good, and the veal tongue had an interesting flavour and texture. The anchovies were very tasty too.
My main was seared mackerel with warm new potato salad and chilli butter photo. The mackerel was almost perfectly cooked; I would have preferred the skin to be crisper. The salad was fine. The chilli butter had only the merest hint of chili, but it worked in this dish.
For dessert I had pain perdu with caramelised apples photo. The apples were fantastic.
Accessibility: Step-free access, and an accessible toilet on the same floor. There's a non-accessible mezzanine area too.
