Small Latin American cafe in New Cross.
The walls are painted in bright colours, echoed by plastic bucket seats in yellow, red, green, and light blue. This appears to constitute the entirety of the decor, giving a cheerful and uncluttered ambience. There's an open kitchen at the back, adjoined by a service counter with stools lined up in front, a blender on top for fresh juices, and a large coffee machine behind.
Kake visited on a Friday morning in September 2019. There was just one other customer when I arrived a little after 10am, though a couple of others turned up while I was there; all seemed to be regulars. Music was playing extremely quietly.
Arepa with cheese (£3) photo was exactly what it said it was — a thick, flat cornbread with grated cheese melted on top (plus a sprinkling of dried herbs). I'm no expert on arepas, so couldn't say how it compares to others, but I thought it was fine.
Tea (£1.50) was nothing special — made in a metal pot with a bog-standard teabag — but it did the job.
Accessibility: A step to get in. No further steps to the toilets once you're in, but access is down a narrow passageway and the cubicles are a bit of a squeeze.
