Japanese restaurant near Baker Street Station.
It's not large, seating 36 at tables and possibly another 5 at the sushi bar. The menu is quite extensive and has a two-page Japanese-only section.
bob visited on a Thursday evening in June 2010. There were a few customers already in when I arrived at 9pm, and a few more arrived while I was there.
I went for the Nambu Special dinner (£36). First to arrive was a set of four nigiri; tuna, salmon, squid, and cooked prawn photo. The quality was very good, though I felt the selection of fish was a bit uninteresting. Next was a very tasty seafood and mushroom soup served in a teapot lid-on photo, lid-off photo, photo after pouring, followed by tempura photo; this was very well executed, though the batter could have been slightly lighter. The final savoury course was skewers of seafood served on a bed of beansprouts, with miso soup and rice on the side photo. The skewers consisted of squid, prawn, a delicately cooked scallop, and some salmon. The meal was finished off with a plate of fruit consisting of two orange segments and some honeydew melon. Green tea was free and regularly topped up.
Accessibility: Step-free to get in. Toilets are down a flight of stairs.
