Pub in Soho, in the Good Beer Guide.
It's quite small inside, with a good quarter of the ground-floor space taken up by the bar in the corner. Most of the seating is provided by high stools at the bar and along the drinking shelf that runs along the wall opposite, though there's also a short banquette and some normal-height stools tucked away to the side of the bar.
The windows are engraved frosted glass, exposed floorboards lie underfoot, and a wooden gantry above the bar is adorned with numerous pump clips. The overall feel is "updated traditional" — smartened up a bit without losing its soul.
Kake visited on a Friday afternoon in August 2015. It was pretty full when I arrived around 2:15pm, with only a couple of seats left on high stools; there were a good few people standing up, too, both inside and outside in a little roped-off line along the pavement. Music was playing, fairly quietly, and barely audible over the boisterous conversation.
The real ales available were 3 Brewers Classic English Ale, Wimbledon Tower Special Pale Ale, Hanlons Half Moon, and at least two others on handpump that I couldn't see through the crush at the bar. A pint of lime and soda was £1.
According to their website as of August 2015, food is available in their table-service upstairs dining room from noon-10pm Mon-Sun. On our August 2015 visit, we also saw food being served in the downstairs bar.
Accessibility: A small step to get in. There's very little normal-height seating. The gents' toilets are in the basement, and the ladies' are on the first floor, up a rather narrow staircase with a bend in the middle and a non-continuous handrail.
