Locale: Mile End
An area of East London centered around the A11/A1205 road junction, mostly in the E3 postal district as well as a bit of E1 to the west where it blends into the northern reaches of Stepney.
Mile End Park runs in a narrow strip alongside the Regent's Canal, and contains the recently refurbished Mile End Stadium and adjoining leisure centre, and a climbing wall. The park crosses the A11 via the 'green bridge', underneath which is a small Budgens supermarket, plus several restaurants and cafes. Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park is a short walk from the station, while Victoria Park is about 10-15 minutes' walk.
Like much of inner East London the streets are a mixture of Victorian terraces and 1960s council housing. The nearest large supermarkets are a Tesco in Bow, and a Sainsbury's in Whitechapel. The nearest non-charging cashpoint is the Barclays by Queen Mary's University.
